Well! I did it...
Well! I did it. I pulled the trigger. I took the plunge. On Saturday, I signed the papers and purchased a brand new Steinway-designed Boston 6'4" grand piano. No more baby grand. My Baldwin has been sold to a friend to whom I'm thrilled to be giving it.
This is the biggest investment I've personally made in myself and my career. Not that this was even a consideration but there's certainly no turning back now!
It arrives Thursday! And I couldn't be more excited. My last day and performance with the Baldwin will be tonight at 10:30EDT for GDC, which you can register and attend for free.
A huge thanks to everyone who gave me their opinion and advice on whether I should upgrade my piano or not. Having played this one on two different occasions, it's a definite yes.
There was a lot of factors that went into this decision. There was even another piano about the same price that I was deciding between. But after playing both of these interments, it was clear if I want to keep moving forward in my career, I would need to upgrade.
Having the Boston will allow me to make the detailed sounds and music I've been unable to get out of my current piano. For one, I've been holding off on recording a lot of the 88bit repertoire until I could get an instrument that can properly produce the detail I feel is required.
Not only will my own recording projects and videos improve but I can more confidently deliver a professional product for anyone who hires me to record for their project. (I'm available!)
I would very much like to thank Bryan Finegan at Steinway Piano Gallery Cleveland who was just very patient and quick to answer any questions I had, and allowed me to take all the time I needed in the store trying the different instruments.
There's a lot more I can say but I'll leave it at, I can't wait to discover and show off what this puppy can do! Thank you everyone for all your encouragement and support during this crazy time. ❤️🙏
